The Ashram DND flyover extension has now been completely opened, after allowing heavy vehicles to ply as the Public Works Department (PWD) has shifted high-tension wires, owing to which such vehicles were restricted from using the stretch.
With this, traffic disruptions at the entrance point of the flyover from Noida and the Lajpat Nagar side will be eased down, and commuting will get smoother between Noida and Central and Southeast Delhi.
The flyover was opened to other vehicles, such as cars and two-wheelers, earlier this year, but due to the presence of the high-tension wires, trucks and buses were restricted to ply on this elevated corridor.
PWD Minister Atishi said, “The movement of heavy vehicles on the Ashram DND flyover extension was restricted as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the commuters in the vicinity of the high-tension wires. However, with the assistance of the department concerned, the PWD has successfully lifted the wires, allowing all vehicles to use this crucial route without any restrictions.”
The PWD Minister also highlighted that the completion of the connection of the loop from Sarai Kale Khan to Lajpat Nagar, expected within five days, will further alleviate the burden on the single route.
This strategic infrastructure development will ensure better traffic management, resulting in a seamless and smooth travel experience for all Delhi commuters, she added.
